This piece and performance deserve a blog post. This video was taken during a rehearsal. This is another piece from the musical "Chess" (as several of these blog pieces have come from). I've seen the actual performace that Adam Pascal was rehearsing for here and I think that this is actually better than the performance.
This piece, Pity the Child, is quite boring in the beginning, but starting at 2:30 you'll understand why this piece is known in theatrical circles as "Pity the Singer". It's very difficult to sing well, especially the high note at 3:03, which I think (and I'm not a vocal coach by any stretch of the imagination) he pull's off pretty well.
If I tried to sing the high portion of this song, I'd have to name it, "Pity the Dog, Cat & Neighbors".
